Lassi is a popular traditional dahi-based drink that originated in the Indian subcontinent. Lassi is a blend of yogurt, water, spices and sometimes fruit. Traditional lassi is a sweet savoury drink, sometimes flavoured with ground and roasted cumin

Ingredients
  • 2 cups chilled fresh curd (dahi or yogurt)

 

  • 1.5 to 2 cups chilled water or milk or half-half of both water and milk.

 

  • 10 to 12 tablespoons sugar or add as per taste.

 

  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder or 2 tsp rose water.

 

  • a few strands of saffron (kesar), optional.

 

  • 6 to 8 ice cubes, optional.

 

Method
  • Add all the ingredients listed above (except "For garnish"), to a large mixing bowl. Beat nicely using an hand/electric whisk, until frothy.

 

  • Transfer to serving glass, add the garnish and serve cold.
